WBF Networking drinks

In collaboration with the Tasmania Maritime Network, Australian Maritime College and the University of Tasmania, AMI Group hosted an industry networking event on the opening night of the 2019 MyState Australian Wooden Boat Festival.

Over fifty senior industry people attended including directors of International Catamarans, visiting national representatives from AMSA, Australian International Export Group (AIMEX) and Dr Jeremy Ranicar from Oceanic Solutions.

Guest speaker was Mr. Chris Oldfield the former Consul General for Australia in the US based in San Francisco. Chris spoke about his experience in the US and the strong camaraderie between Australia and the United States based around the 100 year commemoration of joint combat operations in France on 4 July 1918. This was the first time Australian and US troops fought side by side in an offensive action, at the Battle of Hamel on France’s Western Front. They fought under the command of one of Australia’s most revered military leaders, General Sir John Monash. Australia has supported the US in every conflict since this time.

The Chair of the TMN, Rob Miley said: “we are very fortunate to have AMI Group support our marine and maritime industries in Tasmania, AMI Group continually seek out the most relevant, durable and innovative products across the globe and allow Tasmanian companies to quickly pick up these technologies and in turn this primes our firms to meet competitive export markets head on.”
