Tasmania Maritime Network welcomes Deputy Premier’s announcement on Tasmanian delegation to SEA AIR SPACE Washington DC 8-13 April 2018. http://www.seaairspace.org/
Chairman Tasmania Maritime Network , Mr. Rob Miley states “This will be largest delegation of Tasmanian firms to a dedicated overseas Defence event.”
“Six members of the TMN are joining Deputy Premier Jeremey Rockliff, Rear Admiral Steve Gilmore and Secretary of State Growth Kim Evans on to the Team Defence Australia stand organized by Austrade and the Centre for Defence Innovation at Sea Air Space in Washington DC.
The TMN members include UTas AMC, Fiomarine, Liferaft Systems Australia, Pivot Maritime, CBG Systems and PFG/Aquatruck.
Mr. Miley said: “Sea Air Space Exposition is one of the largest events of its type in the US each year. It attracts a significant participation level from across industry and the maritime services of the US (Navy, Marines, Coast Guard & Army).
Team Defence Australia, the Australian Embassy and RADM Gilmore will be working hard to identify and arrange meetings with potential interested organisations for the delegation. The opportunity to connect with like-minded US companies large and small, is always an advantage, as foreign companies doing business in the US Defence space will almost certainly require a US company partner/sponsor etc to succeed.
In addition to Sea Air Space, the Australian Embassy is arranging the annual G’Day USA Defence Industry conference immediately after SAS. This is an increasingly important event which aims to assist Australian companies do business in the US Defence/security sector. It will be attended by the Minister for Defence Industry (MIN Pyne) and numerous US Defence officials and company representatives.
RADM Gilmore was until recently the Head of Defence Services at the Australian Embassy and has extensive contacts and networks across the current administration and agencies which will add huge value to this Tasmanian trade mission.”
