Tasmania’s new Oil and Gas Precinct

The Tasmania Maritime Network has worked constructively with the Tasmanian Government to achieve the official recognition of the Bell Bay maritime area as an Oil and Gas Precinct. The new Precinct is presently able to cater for vessels and other craft associated with Oil and Gas activities but the future development of the Precinct will lead to significant opportunities for various TMN members, related and local businesses, and the State as a whole.

TMN Chairman Richard Lowrie welcomed the official recognition and reinforced the exciting potential of the Precinct and the opportunities for increased business and employment in the region. “The future potential of the Oil and Gas Industry is huge” noted Mr Lowrie, “Tasmania and the Oil and Gas Precinct is well placed to capitalise on the expansion of the Industry into the South Eastern regions of Australia, providing significant demand for Tasmania’s maritime products and services.”

Development of the Oil and Gas Precinct is an on-going initiative and further exciting developments will be occurring in the years ahead to further strengthen the Precinct as an important hub in Australia’s Oil and Gas Industry.
